| 1,000 km of cycling Perfect scenery of the Swiss Alps Experience the cultures of Switzerland |
Discover some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe as you tour the postcard-perfect landscape of Switzerland.
Cycle the famous peaks of Col du Gotthard, Col de la Furka and many more, in a 14-day tour of beautiful Switzerland. Enjoy 1,000 kilometres of cycling in 8 days, and finish each day watching the Tour de France live from your hotel room or at a restaurant with the locals!
Suitable for average to experienced cyclists – you’ll need to train up for this trip! – the cycling tour combines challenging cycling with fantastic cultural experiences in the three regions of Switzerland – French, German and Italian.
The first stage of the cycling tour commences in the French-part of Switzerland from the famous Lake Geneva. The flat, 120km ride around Lake Geneva finishes with a boat ride across the lake to a fabulous lunch venue. The following days include cycling in the picturesque pre-Alps and a climb up the famous St Bernard peak (2473m). And you will not be able to leave the region without trying Nic’s favourite dish – a traditional Swiss fondue!
The group then transfers by car to the German part of Switzerland for two days of cycling six of the most famous Swiss peaks, rated “hors categorie” – the highest level of difficulty (rated by the French system). Each peak is over 2000m. Your most challenging day will be to take on the impressive 2478m Nufenen Pass. A less challenging option will also be available on these days.
After a day of rest and a transfer to the Italian region of Switzerland, your next ride will be up the Val Verzasca and will take you through many rustic, Swiss-Italian villages. Enjoy more scenic rides on your second day in the region, finishing with your last day of cycling around the most famous lakes of Switzerland – Lake Lugano and Lake Maggiore. It’s now time to really indulge in the local vino
and pasta!
