| Aussies top the scales as world’s heaviest |
It’s hard to believe, but we’re the fattest county on the planet!
Us sports-mad, out-door loving Aussies are becoming over-eating, couch potatoes.
Recent news reports have talked about some scary statistics:
- 9 million Australian adults are overweight or obese
- 26 percent of the adult population are considered obese
- Our health care bill could exceed $6 billion
- 45 – 64 age group most at risk
But it’s not too late.
Let’s tackle this problem head on.
By looking after ourselves and setting examples for our kids.
Learn how to live a healthy life. Improve your diet. Exercise more. And if you can’t do it yourself, ask for help from a professional in the health and fitness industry.

It’s easy in Winter to cut back on the physical activity, tuck into some comfort food and hibernate those colder months away!
The result? In spring, peeling back those winter clothes to reveal the excesses of a lazy winter!
Five tips to stay motivate when it’s cold and dark outside:
- Pick a goal – a fun run or 12 week challenge is perfect!
- Join an outdoor group session and enjoy the company of other motivated people.
- Make a commitment to a personal trainer to keep you motivated
- Use the gym – it’s warm inside! Keep your exercise gear where you can see it.

Bigger bites make you eat more
Research has found that children take bigger bites when served larger portions of food. Doubling the portion size increased food and energy intakes by 25% and 15% respectively. When the kids fed themselves, they ate 25% less.
The message here is to avoid over-serving your family’s meals and snacks.

| Sean heads OS for World Championships |
Champion pro-windsurfer Sean O’Brien heads off this month to take on the Euros on the international stage.
He’ll compete in Poland in July in the European Cup and again in August at the European Championship. Sean will then back it up with the World Championships in Portugal in September.
Sean’s looking fit and strong. He’s worked hard. He’s focused. He’s ready.
